Acclaimed Guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto Brings Impressionistic Journey to Newport Performing Arts Center

NEWPORT, OR: Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) will present internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Hiroya Tsukamoto live in concert at the Newport Performing Arts Center on Friday, August 14, at 7:00 pm in the intimate David Ogden Stiers Theatre.

Tsukamoto, a Kyoto-born composer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter, has built a reputation for creating immersive, earthy soundscapes that blend elements of folk, jazz, and world music into a style entirely his own. Critics have taken note of his singular touch on the instrument, with Jazz Review praising his “chops, passion, and warmth” and offering a zealous recommendation, while the Boston Herald described his performances as taking audiences on an “impressionistic journey.”
